Grass Varieties for North Dakota
Establishing Native Grasses
Reeds Canarygrass
Perennial cool season, early-maturing, extremely productive sod forming native grass. High alkaloid content makes for poor grazing but good hay. Establishes easily in poorly drained soils with minimal salinity, and can be invasive on wet sites, tolerating long periods of flooding. Reaches up to 9 feet tall.
Recommended seeding rate of 3.5 pounds per acre. 1/4 inch seeding depth.
